Hire Jazz Band Morphology – Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridge
Why not hire Morphology to play at your birthday, wedding, party or festival? You can rely on us to bring some sunshine to your special day.
Our music is bright, breezy and melodic, without the honk and squeak of some hardcore jazz. It’s a cool sophisticated music that appeals to a younger audience than traditional ‘dixieland’ jazz. It’s the kind of music that will appeal not only to jazz aficionados, but also those new to jazz.
Another characteristic of the band is we have no drummer. In addition to keeping our prices down (drummers always drive big, thirsty cars!) it means we can squeeze into the smallest of corners. It also keeps the volume down, meaning we don’t need much amplification and can create an intimate acoustic atmosphere where needed.
If this sounds of interest, please do get in touch for a free no obligation quotation. We’ll do all we can to make your event that bit special.

What is cool jazz?
Cool jazz emerged in the late 1940s and was a much more relaxed style of playing compared to the beebop style popular at the time. It was particularly prevalent on the west coast of America where the sound suited the laid back lifestyle around the beaches of California. “Cool school” musicians such as Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz and Art Pepper were characterised by their soft tone, melodic improvisation and playful interplay with fellow musicians.
